چکیده

According to clinical studies, the use of fluoroquinolone antibacterial agents is associated with such rare, but serious adverse reactions as aortic injuries. The aim study was analyse scientific literature data on risk injury during treatment. analytical review showed that factors for fluoroquinolone-induced are male gender, age over 45 years, underlying disease, well smoking and atherosclerosis. Clinical morphological forms fluoroquinolone-associated injuries include dilatation (aneurysm development), dissection, rupture. analysis association between most common fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin) development aneurysm dissection often observed least ciprofloxacin. mechanism due fluoroquinolone-mediated activation matrix metalloproteinases which damage elastic components vascular walls, reduction in lysyl oxidase expression collagen synthesis. ability form complexes magnesium ions reduces availability cell enzyme systems, delays synthesis extracellular structural proteins, leads metalloproteinase calcification walls. Prevention, early detection, timely management above-mentioned issues depend awareness different medical specialists about risks antibiotics.

Fluoroquinolone-induced Achilles tendinitis.

We report a case of Achilles tendinitis after intake of ciprofloxacin for treatment of respiratory tract infection. Fluoroquinolone-induced tendinopathy is an uncommon but increasingly recognised adverse effect of this antibiotic class. Most of the cases occur in the Achilles tendon and may lead to tendon rupture. Possible predisposing risk factors include use of steroid, patients with renal im...

Fluoroquinolone-induced renal failure.

Fluoroquinolones are generally well tolerated, clinically useful antimicrobials. This paper highlights rare, but potentially serious, adverse effects involving the kidney. Other antimicrobials have long been known to cause various forms of nephrotoxicity occurring as allergic interstitial nephritis, granulomatous interstitial nephritis, necrotising vasculitis, allergic tubular nephritis or a tu...

Fluoroquinolone Induced Neurotoxicity: A Review

Introduction: Fluoroquinolones (FQs) are commonly used antibiotics both in inpatient and outpatient settings. Their therapeutic use ranges from the common respiratory, urinary tract and gastrointestinal infections to management of drug resistant tuberculosis and febrile neutropenia in immunocompromised patients. [1] Significant features of this group of antibiotics include their wide antibacter...

Pleiotropic Effects of Levofloxacin, Fluoroquinolone Antibiotics, against Influenza Virus-Induced Lung Injury

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) and nitric oxide (NO) are major pathogenic molecules produced during viral lung infections, including influenza. While fluoroquinolones are widely used as antimicrobial agents for treating a variety of bacterial infections, including secondary infections associated with the influenza virus, it has been reported that they also function as anti-oxidants against ROS a...

Fluoroquinolone-induced serious, persistent, multisymptom adverse effects.

We present a case series of four previously healthy, employed adults without significant prior medical history in each of whom symptoms developed while on fluoroquinolones (FQs), with progression that continued following discontinuation evolving to a severe, disabling multisymptom profile variably involving tendinopathy, muscle weakness, peripheral neuropathy, autonomic dysfunction, sleep disor...
